The Parental Dances are the last of the specialty dances that are done at a wedding reception. The grouping can be changed up depending on each person’s specific circumstances and family unit. Typically, after dinner, the Bride will dance with her father. Then, the Groom will dance with his mother. It is a special moment with the people who raised them. Each dance is with a song that was chosen by the bride and groom, which has a special meaning and/or is important between the two people. Some couples even surprise their guests with a dance routine or mash-up that they have spent time practicing weeks before to entertain their guests.
Below are some examples of songs used in parental dances:
Daddy’s Little Girl by Al Martino
Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler
Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle
I Loved Her First by Heartland
Daughter by Loudon Wainwright
Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Hero by Mariah Carey
My Wish by Rascal Flatts
My Little Girl by Tim McGraw
That’s What Mamas Do by Trace Adkins
